Re: Introduce Yourself Here
That's me and my family.
Margi Johnson and I were married on June 17th, 2007.
I "inherited" our oldest daughter Naomi who was just 3.5 at the time. One fact I particularly love is that I was also Naomi's GodParent. So technically I've been Naomi's dad longer than I've been Margi's husband. Things that make you go "hmmmm".
Nathaniel and Annika came in 2008 and 2009 just 54 weeks apart. I think my entire family is awesome.
Margi and I are deeply committed to the lifelong promise that is called marriage. We are a good example of how difficult that commitment can be when times are tough as well as how wonderfully God blesses us for remaining faithful to Him and to one another. Marriage is hard work, and speaking for myself, the less of it I do the harder it gets.
I became Pastor at HCLC in January of 2016 after serving a brief time as HCLC's temporary Pastor. I'm deeply thankful for the work that has been done before my arrival and I look forward to seeing how God will use me and my family in this ministry. This forum is a good example of how I think the church needs to grow: by building faith at home.
I don't want the church to see itself as the one-stop-shop for all your spiritual growth. I want the church to be quickly ready to respond to anyone who wants to grow in faith and who wants to become a faith leader at home and throughout life outside the church. The church should be the assembly place for coming together for worship - for what we at HCLC have identified as our three important reasons for being: Witness, Mercy, and Life Together. Beyond that, we should make every effort to turn our homes into places of faith incubation.
That's what I would like to learn from you and what I hope to lead us into.
I look forward to "meeting" you all throughout the pages of this forum. And of course I always look forward to seeing you on Sunday mornings at 280 Crosswicks Road, Bordentown NJ.
