FOR STARTERS:
Pick an object in the room and talk about where it came from. Trace its origins to the very materials used to make it. For example, the furniture came from wood and the upholstery fabric came from cotton plants. But where did the trees and plants come from? Ultimately, God made everything.

READ THE BIBLE:
Genesis 1:1, Psalm 19:1, and Revelation 4:11

KEY VERSE:
Genesis 1:1: “In the beginning God created heaven and earth.”

TALK ABOUT IT:

  • Have children think about something they made that they are very proud of. Pretend that you cannot believe they made it.
  • Ask, “How did you feel when I didn’t believe that you really made what you said you did?”
  • How do you think God might feel when people don’t believe he made the world and everything in it?
  • Is there any proof that God made the world?
  • According to what the Bible says in Genesis 1:1, Psalm 19:1, and Revelation 4:11, how was the world made? (God made it.)
  • When are good times to stop and thank God for what he has created?
  • How does it make you feel knowing there has never been anyone like you nor will there ever be anyone like you because God made you so unique?
  • Would you feel differently about yourself if you thought God did not make you but you happened by chance? Why or why not?

PRAYER POWER:
Say an alphabet prayer where you thank God for the things he has created using letters in the alphabet. The first person thanks God for something he created that begins with the letter “A,” the next person thanks God for something he created beginning with the letter “B” and so on.

Family Time Option
One day this week, try…
Take a walk as a family and find something you never noticed before. You might notice little details in small objects or the colors in the sky. Another game to try is to guess what another person is noticing by asking questions that can only be answered “yes” or “no.” Talk about how God made everything.
