Family Devotions, 1st - 4th Grade - God Made It and It is Good!
FOR STARTERS: Have each family member answer the questions, “If you could live anywhere, where would it be? Why would you choose that place?” Describe what the scenery looks like and what animals might live there.
READ THE BIBLE: From a story Bible read the account of creation from Genesis 1:1-2:3.
KEY VERSE: Genesis 1:31: “And God saw everything that he had made and that it was very good.”
TALK ABOUT IT: Can you remember what God created and on what days he created it? Think of all the things God has made. After every day of creation, God said it was good. On the sixth day after he made people, he looked at all he made and said it was very good. If God were to give his creation a report card after he finished it, what grade would he give? Picture in your mind some of the many different things God has made. When you think of it, imagine an “A+” stamped on it because God created it and it is good!
PRAYER POWER: Thank God for his creation. Thank him that his best creation is the people he created in his own image.
Family Time Option
One day this week, try…
Let each family member create his own ice cream sundae. Each person can make his own unique toppings from whatever food items he chooses. For example, one might crumble up a cookie or use chocolate chips or marshmallows as toppings. Compliment each unique work of art as good. Recall how God made everything from nothing. Each item he made was unique, and he called it all good.
