The conversation about three different kinds of questions was helpful.

"Observation" questions are easiest. "What happened in that story?" These focus on recalling facts.

"Interpretation" questions are a little more difficult. "How do you think the character/s were feeling about what happened? These questions invite the kids into the story. Try not to do "right" and "wrong". Let your child explore.

"Application" questions require the most prep work. "What does this story mean to me/us/you?" It helps if you've thought it through ahead of time in case some guidance is needed.

Tell us some success or not-so-success stories about devotions or prayer time in your home...

Dinner and bedtime are pretty successful prayer times. However it's more reciting and speed praying to move on to the next activity.

This evening when saying our prayers . Mind you on days that Ben works I am in and out of 3 rooms by myself so I can't sit and do devotionals.

I did want to add something new. So we did our normal prayers now I lay me down to sleep, the Lord's Prayer but tonight I asked them to say a personal prayer.

I like to see what they say. I'd say it was a success for now. I am really looking forward to getting more ideas

We made our foil ball heart and it works pretty well.
If anyone hasn't done it yet and would like to use ours I could bring it Sunday and give it to you:)
