Family Devotions, 1st - 4th Grade - You can trust God to lead you.
FOR STARTERS:
Place some pillows and other obstacles in the middle of the floor. Blindfold family members and give them the challenge of walking across the room without touching any obstacle. They can listen to the voice of another family member who will coach them through the obstacles. Mix up the obstacles before each new participant. What was hard about the game? What made it easy to trust the voice giving directions?
READ THE BIBLE:
Read how God led Abram out of Ur into a promised land from Genesis 12-13.
KEY VERSE:
2 Corinthians 5:7: “Indeed, our lives are guided by faith, not by sight.”
TALK ABOUT IT:
PRAYER POWER:
Pray for how God will help lead your family into the future.
Family Time Option
One day this week, try…
Family members each take a sheet of paper and draw a map of their life so far. Draw a road with special people and events along the way that tell the story of your life. After each has shared his map, talk about where God might be leading you from here.

- What are some of the promises God gave Abram? (Land, descendents, a blessing.)
- What is the greatest promise God passed on to Abram? (The promise that through him all the nations would be blessed. Jesus was born through
- Abram’s family. The Old Testament talks about how this promise was passed down from generation to generation until Jesus was born.)
- What do you think would be the hardest thing about Abram going to a new place? What would be the hardest thing about believing Abram would have children when he was 75+ years old?
- Share an example of something in the future that you might worry about. Could you be worried about what you are going to be when you grow up?
- Abram had to walk by faith and not by sight. He had to trust God to lead him. Sometimes we don’t know where our journey will end, but we do know we can trust God to lead us.
